History of the Firm

Our firm was established in 2009 as Johnson, Camacho & Singh with a group of attorneys who previously practiced together for decades, bringing a wealth of experience in multiple practice areas. In 2025, the firm officially changed its name to JCS Caribbean Law to better reflect its branding in the market and emphasize its Caribbean cross-border capability and focus.

The origins of JCS Caribbean Law date back to the 1970s, when two of our founding partners, Cecil Camacho and Andrew Johnson, joined the law firm of DeNobriga Inniss & Co (DNI). In 1989, another founding partner, Stephen Singh, also joined DNI.

In 2000, the legal practices of DNI and Lex Caribbean (Barbados) merged, forming the regional firm of Lex Caribbean, with Cecil, Andrew, and Stephen as three of its founding partners and Cecil as its regional managing partner.

In 2009, Cecil, Andrew, and Stephen, together with current partners Nicholas Sinanan, Sonji Pierre Chase, Orrisha Maharajh, and others left Lex Caribbean to establish Johnson, Camacho & Singh. Today, this team, along with new partners, leads JCS Caribbean Law into its next chapter.
